WARRIORS will be out to battle Benin in their bid to secure their first win in the World Cup qualifier Group C in Abidjan today.
Micheal Nees’s troops are the only side that have failed to register maximum points in six attempts.
And, the easy money will be on the hosts who are just five points adrift of leaders, South Africa who are sitting comfortably on 13 points.
Zimbabwe have accumulated four points and they are at the bottom of this group which also has Nigeria, Rwanda and Lesotho.
Four goals were scored in the reverse fixture when the Warriors hosted Benin.
For the Warriors, it is about spoiling the part for the hosts who are still firmly in the picture for a slot for the 2026 World Cup.
Nees is also aware of the burden on his shoulder as he has faced criticism over the selection of his squad.
The German gaffer is also aware that a huge section of those who follow Zimbabwean football have are aware that he has presided over nine games and won twice.
This fixture will also see the much anticipated return of Brendan Galloway who was absent battling injuries in the previous Warriors fixtures.
The central defender is expected to play a leading role in helping the Warriors in their quest for a win today.
“It’s nice to be back in the squad and hopefully we can get a win, I’m fully fit and ready to go,” said Galloway.
“It was frustrating to be out for a long time but I had to work very to be back. I love representing my country and I’m really excited to be back.
“We are playing this game with the AFCON tournament in our mind because we really have to prepare ourselves for that competition.”
Warriors are expected to host Rwanda in South Africa next week Tuesday at Orlando Stadium.
