Warriors speak

Attention, your Warriors are speaking

AHEAD of today’s Cosafa Cup final, H-Metro Sports Reporter Chipo Sabeta picked the minds of some key Warriors’ figures. Here is what they had to say…

Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa

“I haven’t lost a Cosafa match yet as a coach and I can only attribute that to God. Being lucky is out of the equation. I have won the cup twice, with two different squads and I am eager to bring it home again. It’s my chance to go for a hat-trick. Fatigue is my main worry. They have only played two games yet we have had to fulfill five fixtures within 14days.”

Ovidy Karuru

“My hands are itching to lift that trophy. I have had a good tournament so far and want to cap it properly by lifting the cup. Captaining this team has been a pleasure. We are united and deserve to be called champions.”

Goerge Chigova

“I am eyeing a clean sheet in the final and that means I have to do a lot of talking in the 90 minutes, organising my back line. I believe we want it more than our opponents. The people back home expect us to deliver and we promise not to disappoint.”

James Mukombwe

“Zambia are an organised side and will not be easy to beat. However, we are not afraid of them. Coach Mhofu has been here before and knows what it takes to win this trophy. We just have to follow his instructions and the rest will take care of itself.”

Knox Mutizwa

“I had a bad start to the tournament but that hat-trick against Lesotho has given me confidence … bring on Zambia. People say we have been the best team at Cosafa but that has to be confirmed through winning the final and we are all ready for battle.”

Liberty Chakoroma

“We conceded three goals in our previous game and it’s totally unacceptable if we want to win this cup. We have to improve at the back. We will be on high alert and will not give them much space.”
