392 inmates have been released under the Presidential Amnesty Scheme in Bulawayo on Tuesday morning.

The releases marked one of the most significant exercises under the clemency initiative in the province.

The former inmates, drawn from various correctional facilities within Bulawayo, exited in an orderly manner, each carrying personal belongings and official discharge documentation.

For many, the moment signified not only the end of incarceration, but the beginning of reintegration into society.

Outside the correctional facility, families and relatives gathered quietly, awaiting reunion with their loved ones. Emotional embraces and subdued exchanges underscored the human dimension of the amnesty, which seeks to afford qualifying offenders an opportunity to rebuild their lives.

ZPCS officials indicated that the Presidential Amnesty Scheme is designed to decongest correctional institutions while promoting rehabilitation and reintegration.

Beneficiaries were urged to uphold the law and contribute positively to their communities.
