ANOTHER vehicle has been reduced to a shell in Bulawayo following a gas explosion, with authorities suspecting it was a result of an improperly sealed gas cylinder.

The incident occurred on Monday night just after the robot-controlled intersection near the Amakhosi Cultural Centre, soon after the unidentified driver had filled up the gas cylinder.

“It happened near Amakhosi Old Falls road. What happened is that he filled the gas tank in town and the suspicion is that it was not fully closed. While on route home, there was a lot of smell which made him stop the vehicle to check, but when he turned on the ignition, the vehicle went up in flames due to static electricity from the leaking gas cylinders,” said the Bulawayo Chief Fire Officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo.

Early this month, a Honda Fit vehicle was reduced to a shell at Manyenziwe Shopping Centre in Nkulumane 12 after gas, which was being illegally sold, exploded.
