MINER and businessman Mr Brian Samuriwo has donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction of a multi-purpose hall set to be constructed at Chief Nkulumane Nzula Masuku’s homestead which is expected to be used as the chief’s court, community workshops among other programmes.

Mr Samuriwo who is a local miner in Matobo presented the donation at Chief Masuku’s homestead on Thursday afternoon.

Handing over the donation, Mr Samuriwo said the donation is one of the many development projects that he is supporting in order to ensure the local community benefits from the value of the rich natural resource within their area.

“Being a local miner in this community, I saw the need for us to have a multi-purpose facility that will assist the local communities in this area. As such, I have donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction of this facility

“We work well and live in harmony with local villagers in this area and it is in their best interest to ensure that as local miners we support the development of the area and uplift their lives. Recently, I donated a television set at Silozwe clinic which was officially opened last Wednesday during the belated World Ranger Day,” said Mr Samuriwo.

Chief Masuku expressed his gratitude to Mr Samuriwo and other miners who are supporting and ensuring there is development within his area. He said the multi-purpose facility which will also have two offices, for the chief and the secretary will benefit the community in a huge way.

“As the leadership here in Matobo, we saw the need to build a multi-purpose facility or hall which will be used as the Chief’s court, assist villagers when they are conducting workshops among other programmes. We then came up with an initiative to construct Nzula Community Hall.

“Due to financial constraints, we spoke to miners here in Matobo whom we work with asking for donations. I am glad and happy to say today one of the local miners Mr Brian Samuriwo delivered 100 bags of cement towards the construction of this community hall. I would really want to appreciate his assistance and general commitment to the development of this community,” said Chief Masuku.

He described him as an exemplary miner and business man who is committed to the development of the area through various projects he has funded.

“He recently assisted us through the construction of a classroom block at Mgadla Primary School, one of the local schools in this area. We want to thank him and other miners as well who support the development of our area,” said Chief Masuku.

He said they have already dug the foundation, secured 15 000 bricks and what was only holding them back was cement.

“Now that we have received it, we are commencing construction as early as tomorrow and we wish to see it complete by December. Once complete, the facility will be open for even booking and hiring for any programme that fits its purpose,” said Chief Masuku.
