THE community of Dabe village in Nkayi District, Matabeleland North Province, is reeling in shock after a man axed his two sons to death before committing suicide.
Zenzo Ncube, a 47-year-old man, allegedly murdered his two sons, Mandlenkosi (8) and Zimisele (4), a fortnight ago, before hanging himself at his late brother’s homestead.
Yesterday, a Chronicle news crew travelled to the quiet village of Dabe, where the community is still shocked by the horror that befell their area.

Mrs Sibonginkosi Tshabalala, whose husband is the younger brother to the deceased, said her children are still traumatised by how their cousins were killed by their own father.

“The kids played together, shared meals together, and it’s unimaginable that Mandlenkosi and Zimisele were killed by their own father,” said Mrs Tshabalala.
According to police, the deceased was reportedly a mental patient on psychiatric medication.

He had been living alone with his children since the death of his wife, who committed suicide by hanging in 2023.
More to follow in the Thursday edition of Chronicle.
