Former Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, has revealed that he has begun writing his memoirs chronicling his extensive experience in Government.

Dr Sibanda, who was unveiled to the media in Bulawayo today as the new National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) board chairman, said the memoirs would be published in the coming months.

“I was shocked when I was called and asked to assist in making this organisation what it should be — a driver of our development and of the entire economy,” said Dr Sibanda.

“The feeling was, why don’t I have my time? I thought I had left Government after working for so many years. I was starting to write my books, but I was told, ‘you can write later, go and help…

“The memoirs are about my experience in Government and will be published in coming months.”

With a distinguished public service career spanning more than 40 years, Dr Sibanda is one of Zimbabwe’s most experienced administrators. He served as Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet for two decades, working under three presidencies — the late non-executive President Canaan Banana, the late President Robert Mugabe between 2003 and 2017, and President Mnangagwa from 2018 to 2023.

His forthcoming memoirs are expected to provide rare insights into the workings of Government and the country’s governance journey across different administrations.
