BULAWAYO woke up to a heavenly vibe on Sunday — not from the clouds above, but from the voices below.
From Makokoba to Mpopoma, Pumula to Pelandaba, the city came alive with the sound of praise as residents witnessed an extraordinary Palm Sunday march that lit up the streets with joy, music, and united worship.

Church congregants from across the city joined forces for a colourful parade that celebrated Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem — a moment etched in Christian history and symbolised by waving palm branches.
“It was beautiful. You could feel the spirit moving in every drumbeat and chorus,” said one beaming worshipper, clutching a homemade palm cross.
Palm Sunday — also known as Passion Sunday — marks the beginning of the Holy Week, a sacred time on the Christian calendar that leads to Good Friday and the resurrection on Easter Sunday.

“This week reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice,” a local pastor shared during the march. “Jesus came in peace, and we walk in that spirit today.”
From toddlers on their parents’ shoulders to elders waving palms with pride, the march wasn’t just a religious act — it was a city-wide statement of faith and unity.
And for once, the noise in the streets wasn’t from kombis or commuter chaos — but from hearts tuned to a higher calling.
