A BULAWAYO woman is crying out for help as she fights for her life against aggressive stage 3 uterine cancer.
Miriam Mhlanga (52) from Pumula South is in desperate need of financial assistance to undergo urgent scans and treatment after the cancer, diagnosed six months ago, spread dangerously through her body.
“I need a spinal cord X-ray which costs US$750 and a kidney scan for US$300. On top of that, chemotherapy is US$250. I don’t have anything and I’m scared the cancer will win if I don’t get help soon,” said Mhlanga, her voice trembling with emotion.
Doctors have ruled out surgery because the cancer has spread too far, making chemotherapy her only option.
Uterine cancer is a deadly disease that affects the reproductive organs, often diagnosed after menopause. It’s estimated that 3 in every 100 women are at risk, and every year over 65 000 are diagnosed worldwide.
Mhlanga, who is battling pain and uncertainty daily, is appealing to the public for a lifeline.
“I just want a chance to live,” she said.
