WATCH: Human waste flows in Barham Green family’s yard as they endure three-month sewage crisis

A family from Barham Green in Bulawayo says it has endured an ongoing sewage blockage crisis that has left human waste flowing into their yard since August.

Mrs Rosemary Naidoo told Zimpapers on Monday that despite making several reports to the Bulawayo City Council (BCC), the problem has not been fixed.

“The blockage results in sewage flowing into our yard and the smell from the human waste is unbearable. We first reported the problem to council on 25 August and made more reports up to 3 November but nothing has been done.

“A private plumber that we hired traced the problem to a main sewer pipe that can only be attended to by council employees,” said Mrs Naidoo.

A comment from BCC is yet to be obtained.

“I even contacted the Mayor (Councillor David Coltart), who promised to get to the bottom of the issue, but nothing has been done up to now,” she said.
