WATCH: “I was with him hours before” — Sikhonjwa’s close friend speaks

“I was with him just hours before…” — those are the words of Haslam Maenzanise, the close friend and associate of Zimpapers’ Star FM presenter, Babongile Sikhonjwa, who confirmed his untimely passing.

Maenzanise said Sikhonjwa had spent the weekend at his place. The two were playing cards in the early hours of Sunday morning .

“I left him around 3am. In the morning, I went to check up on him but he did not respond. I rushed him to hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. We are working with the family for the official statement,” he said, dismissing rumours that Sikhonjwa had collapsed.

The larger-than-life entertainer will be remembered for his impromptu performances at Red Café, the most recent captured in these videos around 2am that same morning.
