Bulawayo music lovers were treated to a rare and unforgettable moment on Friday night when three of Zimbabwe’s music giants, Alick Macheso, Jeys Marabini, and Chase Skuza shared the stage in a surprise performance that left fans buzzing with excitement.

The epic moment took place at Palace Gardens, where Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo were headlining a show that also featured the award-winning Insimbi ZeZhwane. In a surprise twist, veteran artistes Jeys Marabini and Chase Skuza, who were in attendance as guests, were invited on stage by Macheso for an impromptu jam session that has since gone viral on social media.

For many, it was an iconic moment, three living legends singing, dancing, and celebrating each other in the City of Kings. The chemistry between the artistes was electric, with Macheso on bass, Marabini offering his powerful vocals, and Skuza adding his unmistakable groove. Fans erupted in applause as they witnessed this organic moment of unity and mutual respect unfold live on stage.

“It was magical,” said one fan who attended the show.

“These are the kinds of collaborations we don’t get to see often. It wasn’t planned, but it turned out to be the highlight of the night.”

Jeys Marabini later shared his joy on social media, writing: “We had a great time yesterday (Friday) in Bulawayo with Bro Chase Skuza watching a live performance by Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo. It was special when he appreciated us for coming to the show at Palace Hotel. He called us to come to the stage and sing with him. Earlier on, we watched Insimbi ZeZhwane, what a performance! We enjoyed, thanks Bulawayo.”

The spontaneous performance has sparked excitement among fans, many of whom are now calling for a formal collaboration between the three icons. A joint recording, they say, would be a cultural milestone in Zimbabwean music, bringing together Sungura, Afro-fusion, and traditional rhythms in a single powerful track.

With the ongoing struggle for large concert venues in Bulawayo, smaller venues like Palace Gardens are proving to be hotspots for memorable shows, and this past weekend’s surprise performance may have just raised the bar for what fans can expect.
