Former UFC fighter Temba Gorimbo has gone viral after sharing a video of an encounter with a brown bear in the United States, in which the animal briefly wrestled with him and at one point bit into his tracksuit before letting go.

The clip, which Gorimbo posted on his social media platforms, shows the mixed martial artist engaging with what appeared to be a playful juvenile bear, moments that quickly turned tense as the animal gripped him while he tried to pull away.

In the footage, Gorimbo can be heard laughing nervously as the bear continued to cling onto him, prompting viewers to interpret the reaction as a mix of fear and adrenaline. At one point, he is heard saying “no, it’s biting me,” before managing to break free and move to safety. The encounter, although described by some as playful, clearly showed moments of concern as the situation unfolded.

The video sparked widespread reaction on social media, with users flooding the comments section in disbelief and humour. Many said Gorimbo’s laughter sounded more like panic than amusement, while others joked that even the bravest would have reacted the same way when faced with a bear in close quarters. Some users highlighted his quick instincts, describing it as a classic “fight-or-flight” response in action.

Others added a cultural twist to the conversation, saying the reaction was “very Zimbo,” pointing out the mix of Shona expressions and English panic in his voice.
