Bulawayo has welcomed a new addition to its events scene with the launch of M and M Joyous Events Centre on Saturday. Located along Victoria Falls Road, the venue is the brainchild of Eunice Dlamini, a seasoned expert in events management.
The spacious facility can accommodate up to 600 guests and aims to provide comprehensive event services, including catering, décor and more.
The launch was attended by prominent figures, including Bulawayo councillors, the town clerk and representatives from the business sector as well as the city’s famous twin grannies. The Mayor of Bulawayo was represented by Councillor Donald Mabutho, who praised the initiative as a significant investment in the city’s future.

M and M Joyous Events has been operating from the second floor of the Haddon and Sly Building in the city, earning a reputation for excellence, particularly through their Traditional Fridays, which feature a menu of traditional delicacies. The journey to their new venue has been a long one, taking seven years to complete after the ground-breaking event in 2017.
Eunice Dlamini, the managing director and her team have gained significant experience catering to various large-scale events, including serving close to 3 000 people in rural Bikita. They were also entrusted with catering for the funeral service of the late Pathisa Nyathi.
Said Dlamini: “We aim to become an internationally recognised and diversified events management brand that brings joy and satisfaction to our clients. People already associate us with rural events, and we’ve embraced that niche, creating significant value from those functions.”
She said the M and M Joyous Events Centre goes beyond just providing a venue.
“We offer a diverse menu, including traditional buffet, tshisa nyama, vegetarian and custom dishes, prepared by skilled chefs as well as on-site décor to suit any event theme,” she said.
Outlining ambitious plans for the future, Dlamini said: “Our dream is to expand into the hospitality industry with a hotel. For now, we’re focused on delivering outstanding, quality event management services that set new standards in the industry.”
The launch event itself showcased the venue’s capabilities, with attendees treated to a meticulously prepared five-course meal that blended traditional and modern cuisine.
Representing the Mayor, Councillor Mabutho commended the project as a testament to collaboration and innovation in Bulawayo.

“By offering land for this project, we’ve supported local business and invested in our city’s future. This venue is more than just a building – it’s a space for creating memories, celebrating milestones and strengthening community ties,” said Mabutho.
He added that the venue has the potential to host a variety of events, including weddings, corporate gatherings and community celebrations.
Veteran musician, Ramsey K and the Big Ray Band delivered a vibrant performance that kept the audience captivated. Ramsey delighted attendees with nostalgic hits from Busi Ncube, Lovemore Majaivana and Rebecca Malope, often joined by the crowd in song and dance.
