THE funeral service of Rahman Gumbo’s late widow Virginia Sibanda has just concluded at Brethren in Christ Church (BICC), Bulawayo City Centre ahead of burial today at Umvutshwa Cemetery.

The late Sibanda passed on Sunday at the age of 63 at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) after a long battle with cancer.

The funeral service was attended by scores of people who included Highlanders legends Madinda Ndlovu, Douglas Mloyi and Amin Soma Phiri.

Also in attendance were ex-ZIFA vice president Omega Sibanda and Philani Mabhena, who worked closely with the late Gumbo in the football circles.

Several local and foreign pastors who worked together with the late Virginia took turns to speak glowingly of the now deceased, underscoring that she was a true servant of God who transformed many lives.

The late Virginia’s death came barely two years after Gumbo died in Botswana in November 2023.

A few weeks before her death, her family had made a plea for donations and assistance to pay mounting hospital bills following surgery that cost US$15 000.
