Gospel musician Sharon Manyonganise Cherayi has revealed that the powerful closing segment of her song Ndotondera Kalvari with Everton Mlalazi was never rehearsed, describing it as a divine moment that unfolded naturally on stage.
Cherayi said spirituality took over during the performance, resulting in what many gospel music lovers have since hailed as one of the song’s most touching moments, the melodic outro that has resonated deeply with listeners.

Ndotondera Kalvari, loosely translated to “I Remember Calvary,” is featured on Celestial Chorus Volume 3. The worship-filled offering carries a heartfelt message of surrender, trust, and gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. The song reflects on the events of Calvary as a reminder of God’s unfailing love and the redemption found through Him.

Taking to her Facebook page, Cherayi shared the remarkable story behind the song’s emotional ending.
“Trust you most of you will find this credible. Minister Everton Mlalazi and I did not have a single rehearsal for the final part of the song. Divine providence often perfects things in its own unique way,” she wrote.
On a lighter note, the singer encouraged gospel music lovers to attend the second edition of the Ekhaya Worship Festival, which is set for Africa Day on May 25 at Hartsfield Sports Grounds in Bulawayo.
The festival, hosted by Everton Mlalazi, will feature South African gospel stars Zaza Mokhethi and Dumi Mkokstad, alongside local acts including Oncemore Six, Canaan Nyathi, and celebrated acappella outfit Reality 7.
Also on the line-up are Dunamis Men, Nkosi Herman, Mai Mwamuka, Lorraine Maplanka, Conquerors, Pastor Barak Family, Zimpraise, Family Voices, Vocal Ex, Vocal Base, Blessing Jeduthun, Loveness Mukutirwa, Mwenda Shimunzhila, iWorship Zim, and Tehillah Testament.
More than 15 000 people are expected to attend the free praise and worship gathering.
