Pusheka Girl, in partnership with Harris Lodges and Entertainment, Bulawayo Exclusive Events, Slice Pizzeria, and Oasis College, remains unwavering in its mission to empower girls through sanitary wear donations to schools.
Since its inception in 2020, Pusheka Girl, a supportive community of female business owners dedicated to empowering women in their pursuits, has reached numerous communities, including Gwanda, Tshabalala, Plumtree, Makokoba, Sizinda, SOS Village, and Isaiah Umuzi Wethu.

In the past week, Pusheka Girl and its partners intensified their efforts, visiting Hamilton High School, Masuku Primary School, and Mahlabezulu Primary to distribute supplies.
Board member Makaita Tekere, known as Maxy, highlighted the initiative’s impact while acknowledging the challenges they face in their campaign against “period poverty”.
“Our aim is to empower and inform young women and we’ll not give up on ending period poverty. Partner loyalty can be a challenge, but we are grateful for our steady supporters who have helped us reach a significant number of schools.
A total of 320 sanitary pads were donated last week. She said for their latest donation, Slice Pizzeria added a special touch by treating the girls to pizza.
“Encouragingly, more organisations are now coming forward to collaborate with us,” Maxy said.

Beyond the provision of sanitary wear, Pusheka Girl also supports young women in business.
“We’re committed to promoting young female entrepreneurs, showcasing their brands on social media, and encouraging cross-promotion within our community,” Maxy added.
To further this cause, Pusheka Girl hosts quarterly business shower events, offering a platform for women entrepreneurs to present their ventures and connect with peers across various industries.
Beyond in-person events, Pusheka Girl actively leverages its social media platforms to advocate for women’s rights and to promote businesses led by women in Bulawayo.
Maxy expressed optimism for future partnerships, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to an empowered and informed generation of young women.
