New kid on the block: Selgum makes a statement with debut album

Newcomer Selgum, born Phillip Ganizani, has entered the music industry with the release of his debut album, First of Season. Embracing a sound he calls “Selgum Music”, he describes it as a unique blend of various styles to create an authentic African vibe.

The album features standout tracks, including “Mutinhimira” (produced by Alicious), “Vamambo” (produced by Pablo and mixed by Rayo Beats), “Simba”, “Chipembere” and “Mbira Yenyu” with collaborations featuring Nutty O and Young Gemini.

Each track brings a fresh sound, combining the expertise of producers like Pablo, Alicious, Rooney Beats, JMP, and Pressure Zw.

Speaking with Chronicle Showbiz Online, the Harare-based musician shared that First of Season is his way of officially announcing his presence in the music scene.
“This album says Selgum has arrived. I collaborated with numerous artistes and producers to ensure a high-quality product that showcases my versatility,” he said.

The track “Mutinhimira” is already gaining significant airplay on social media and ZBCtv. Additionally, Selgum has been nominated for the Best Upcoming Artiste in Africa at the Zikomo Awards in South Africa.

Looking ahead, he plans to organise local and regional shows to expand his brand.
