DYNAMOS Chazunguza Fundraising organising secretary Donald Wadawu has admitted that the Glamour Boys are praying to avoid a semi-final clash with either Highlanders or Scottland in this year’s Chibuku Super Cup.
Wadawu’s comments come after Dynamos survived a tense quarter-final showdown yesterday, edging ZPC Kariba 4-2 in a penalty shootout to keep their title defense alive.
Speaking ahead of today’s blockbuster quarter-final clash between Highlanders and Scottland at Barbourfields Stadium, Wadawu said they would rather face a different opponent in the last four.
“Honestly, we don’t want to meet Highlanders or Scottland in the semis,” he said. “Those are tough teams with passionate fans and tricky players. At this stage, it’s about strategy and we’d prefer to avoid that kind of pressure.”
Dynamos, who lifted the trophy last year, have been grinding out results this season and will be keeping a close eye on today’s clash in Bulawayo.
Highlanders, backed by a roaring home crowd, will be looking to crush Scottland’s fairytale run, while the newcomers are determined to prove they are not just making up the numbers.
The Chibuku Super Cup is now at its most exciting stage, with every team dreaming of lifting the coveted silverware — but for Dynamos, the hope is simple: “Anyone but Bosso or Scotts.”
