The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has expressed concern over the increasing cases of corruption linked to the shipping and forwarding of goods, warning that these practices are depriving the country of vital revenue.

In his remarks during the Shipping and Forwarding Agency Association of Zimbabwe (SFAAZ) 19th Annual conference in Bulawayo, ZACC chairperson, Mr Michael Reza said some members of the association are being found on the other side of the law, trying to smuggle in goods.

He said the association handles about 95 percent of the country’s exports and imports and some members are said to be conniving with some Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) officials during the process of clearing goods for their benefit.

“Some members are said to be falsifying goods being cleared so that they evade paying tax,” said Mr Reza.

He therefore urged SFAAZ members to follow rules and regulations saying that the law will take its course to protect national interests.
