ZANU-PF Ward 10 candidate Cde Simbisai Ndlovu has hailed the peaceful atmosphere prevailing during the Tsholotsho Rural District Council by-election, expressing confidence that the ruling party will emerge victorious.
Speaking shortly after casting her vote at Nemane Primary School polling station on Saturday morning, Cde Ndlovu commended voters for turning out in their numbers and conducting themselves in an orderly manner.
She said the peaceful environment reflected the political maturity of the electorate and demonstrated the community’s commitment to democratic processes.
“I am pleased with the peaceful manner in which the election is being conducted. People have come out to exercise their constitutional right to vote without any disturbances, and this is commendable,” said Cde Ndlovu.
She said Zanu-PF had run a vigorous campaign centred on development and service delivery, which had resonated well with residents across the ward.
“We engaged the people and listened to their concerns. Our campaign focused on improving livelihoods and accelerating development in the ward. The response we received from the electorate during the campaign gives us confidence that Zanu-PF will win this election,” she said.
Cde Ndlovu urged residents who had not yet voted to visit polling stations before the close of voting and participate in choosing leaders who will spearhead development initiatives in their communities.
Voting got underway at 7am across the district’s polling stations, with election officials reporting a smooth start to the process.
Ward 10 is being contested by Cde Ndlovu of Zanu-PF, Mr Mchlukanisi Washington Ncube of Zapu and independent candidate Mr Ntando Siziba.
