The SADC Secretariat is leading the engagements, with the aim of equipping senior officers with leadership skills, knowledge on mainstreaming gender and human security issues, peace-building efforts, and discussions on key plans, strategies, policies, guidelines, and their implementation in corrections.

Issues related to the correction of inmates are at the centre of today’s engagements.

Senior Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) officers are participating in the five-day workshop.

“ZPCS will this year launch a foundation on the reintegration of prisoners. ZPCS will be inviting various stakeholders to partner with it in implementing the reintegration programme,” he said.

He added that leadership will be a key focus, with the aim of setting an example.
