THE Zimpapers Broadcasting Division is firmly on course in its transformative journey to align with international work standards, with a key focus on streamlining the entire broadcasting ecosystem for the digital age.

This was revealed by the division’s General Manager, Mr Comfort Mbofana, in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the ongoing Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa, taking place in Victoria Falls.

Mr Mbofana said the convention has served as a significant validation of the strategic path the division has been pursuing.

He expressed confidence that the initiatives already underway within Zimpapers are in sync with continental trends and best practices.

“This Broadcasters’ Convention is very important for us in Zimpapers, as we push forward in our broadcast division with our four radio assets and one television station,” said Mr Mbofana.

“It is very heartening to find that a lot of the things we are already doing in Zimpapers Broadcasting are happening right across Africa. The convention is reaffirming that we are on the right path.”

Highlighting the division’s forward-thinking approach, Mr Mbofana said he was particularly drawn to discussions on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern broadcasting.

However, he emphasised that the central pillar of the transformation is a comprehensive overhaul of the broadcasting model itself.

“The one area we are interested in is how to streamline the whole ecosystem of broadcasting so that we change the traditional model to align with what is prevailing internationally,” he said.

While keeping finer details under wraps, the General Manager confirmed that significant development of new platforms is already underway.

“We have been developing a lot of our platforms. I do not want to let too much of the cat out of the bag, but we are heartened to see that we are heading in the right direction,” he said.

He acknowledged the highly competitive nature of the broadcasting landscape but said the shared challenges faced by broadcasters across the region were an opportunity for collaboration and innovation.

The convention, he added, provides a crucial platform for engagement, knowledge-sharing and problem-solving to propel the industry forward.

The revelations signal a period of strategic evolution for Zimpapers Broadcasting as it positions itself to remain a leader in a rapidly changing media environment.
