THE Bulawayo Athletics Board (Bab) Cross Country Championships are presently underway at Nketa Drive Park in Mpopoma.
The event kicked off with the junior women’s category, where Binga’s Tulange Mudenda triumphed in the 6km race, completing the course in 23:26.61 seconds.

She was aiming for a qualifying time of 24 minutes to secure a spot in the inter-provincial championships, set to take place in Harare next month. Her performance further cemented her status as the 2024 Bab athlete of the Year.
Second place went to Binga’s Concern Ngwenya, who could have posted a better time had she not lost her way during the race. She finished in 27:25.00 seconds. Nozipho Dube took third place with a time of 30:26.38 seconds.
In the men’s junior 8km race, Shelton Ncube claimed victory with a time of 26:44.80 seconds.
