THE Nomination Court has opened at the Magistrates Court at Tredgold Building in Bulawayo to receive nomination papers for aspiring candidates for the Pelandaba-Tshabalala Constituency seat.

The seat fell vacant after Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) recalled Mr Ostallos Siziva, for ceasing to be a member of the divided opposition movement.

CCC interim secretary Mr Sengenzo Tshabangu recalled Mr Siziva together with five others triggering President Mnangagwa to declare today’s proceedings ahead of by-elections to be held in February.

It is unclear how CCC will handle the nomination process as previously two candidates filed per constituency resulting in the High Court barring those recalled by Mr Tshabangu from contesting.

The nomination officer Mrs Sithembiso Khupe has started receiving papers.

Zanu-PF candidate Cde Joseph Tshuma who is being represented, is the first one to submit nomination papers.

Other vacant National Assembly seats are Goromonzi South, Seke, Chegutu West, Zvimba East, and Mkoba North
