The Brazilians face resurgent Bulawayo giants Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon before locking horns with Caps United and Dynamos on Friday and Sunday respectively
“We have just triggered a system of working with other African clubs. We will be playing Zimbabwe’s so-called big three which will help us prepare for the second half of the South African league.
“We are looking forward to exciting matches which will enable us monitor our players playing against players they have never played against before.
“We are also here to identify talent. If there is a good player we are going to take him on board although there are no gaps in our team but we need to strengthen our squad,” said Mosimane in an interview soon after their morning training session yesterday.
The Brazilians were also expected to have a workout at Luveve Stadium yesterday evening.
Players such as 2012 Soccer Stars of the Year finalists, Innocent Mapuranga, Masimba Mambare, Mthulisi Maphosa and Ariel Sibanda, Eric Mudzingwa, dreadlocked pair of Peter “Rio” Moyo, Bhekimpilo “Bhakha” Ncube, Simon Munawa, Graham Ncube, Milton Ncube, and “come back babies” Thabani Moyo, Njabulo “Tshiki” Ncube, Gilbert “Gidza” Banda will do duty for Highlanders.
“We brought our entire squad here which means we expect competitive matches. We are going to make substitutions here and there but we will be competitive. Esrom Nyandoro is carrying an injury, he is actually limping. We will see how he responds,” said the former Bafana Bafana gaffer.
Nyandoro, who did not manage to finish Sundowns morning workout, last played at Barbourfields Stadium in 2003 in the now defunct Amazulu colours.
“It will be good to play again at Barbourfields Stadium. I last played at the stadium in 2003. However, this is not about individuals, I, Mushekwi or Method playing, it’s about Sundowns. We are here to work, we are here to do duty as Sundowns. We are looking forward to an exciting match against Highlanders,” said the soft-spoken Nyandoro.
Sundowns are using their Zimbabwean tour to prepare for the second round of the South African Absa Premiership in which they are hoping to make amends with a strong finish. They are also preparing for their Nedbank Cup Challenge.
Last week they were in camp in Polokwane and played a National Division One side on Saturday and they trained before travelling to Johannesburg to catch a plane to Zimbabwe on Monday.
The Pretoria-based club arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday afternoon and they have become the first of the big three South African clubs to play Highlanders at Emagumeni.
