WITCH-hunters operating in Binga claim to have powers to resurrect the dead a�� provided they died due to witchcraft.

The leader of the dubious crew, Baba Maponga has been calling on villagers at Echisuma village to gather where he and his team have set up base.

a�?They claim to have powers to raise all the dead people who were bewitched,a�? said a villager Wilbert Ziyambe.

Despite it being too good to be true, villagers are kept away by the witch-huntersa�� steep charges.

a�?As it is, villagers are reluctant to consult them because of steep consultation fees as they demand two head of cattle,a�? added Ziyambe.

It would take real life drama or miracles to win the villagers over.

a�?The other thing, people doubt their authenticity saying if they really have powers, why not attend funeral gatherings and raise the dead before everyone,a�? he added.

But Baba Maponga claims that their a�?make believea�? stories are legitimate.

a�?Yes, we know that with our powers we can even raise the dead. At times people assume that their relatives are dead when in fact the witches will have turned them into goblins. Those are the type of dead people we are targeting,a�? he said.

Maponga added that no family had approached them and therefore they have not been given a chance to prove themselves.

a�?People should first test us and see whether we will fail to raise their relatives who are being used as goblins,a�? said Baba Maponga.
