“We did not meet Chivayo”: Highlanders vice chairman Fiso Siziba

Sikhumbuzo Moyo Check Point

Highlanders have denied reports that they drove to Harare to meet benefactor and businessman Wicknell Chivayo, which allegedly resulted in the club agreeing to hire former Manchester City striker Benjan Mwaruwari as head coach.

In an unsolicited response, Highlanders vice-chairman Fiso Siziba said they travelled to the capital for talks with sponsors Sakunda and Betterbrands, owned by business tycoons Kuda Tagwirei and Pedzisayi Scot Sakupwanya, both close associates of Chivayo.

“Please try and confirm your facts first. We were in Harare to meet Sakunda and Betterbrands,” said Siziba.

The vice-chairman, however, did not comment on the contentious technical bench matter, after close sources said the Mwaruwari deal is now water under the bridge, with the former Warriors captain expected to touch down in Bulawayo tomorrow to put pen to paper.

Asked if it should be put on record that they did not meet Chivayo, Siziba said:

“Yes please.”
