IN March this year, we broke the story of a secret extra-marital fling between Ngoni…., the husband of Madam Boss, Ngonidzashe Munetsiwa and Ngonidzashe Evangelister Zhou.
As soon as our newspaper hit the streets, with this exclusive article, we were bombarded left, right and centre.
There were the usual noises, from the likes of Tatelicious, who turned herself into a defensive shield for Zhou, whom she interviewed on her social media handles, in which she dismissed our story as a figment of our imagination.
Before he became known as Tatelicious, this man, who turned himself into a woman, after leaving this country to settle in Europe, used to be known as Tatenda Zenzo Karigambe.
Tatelicious went live on Facebook and played the conversation, purportedly with Evangelister, where she denied being pregnant, speaking to her pastor Jairos Maphosa about it, or knowing Ngonidzashe at all.
She claimed she spoke to Madam Boss’s husband for the first time that month, after he called her about the story in our newspaper.
The spin, which Tatelicious and her gang were trying to create, was to suggest that we were a bunch of shameless liars, who were using an innocent woman, in our quest to boost our circulation numbers.
But, predictably, there were some flaws to the narrative which Tatelicious, and her wayward group, were trying to paint in their spirited efforts to make a mockery of our integrity.
l Tatelicious chose not to ask Evangelister how Ngoni got her number early that morning, and call her enquiring about our story, if they did not know each other?
l Tatelicious did not ask her to explain the video of her downing a pesticide blaming Ngoni for trying to make her abort.
l Tatelicious ignored all these things, in fact she cut the recording when Eva was talking about the pastor, because it was spoiling their plot.
The whole plot was to discredit us, attack H-Metro with all the ammunition they have at their disposal, as part of the grand plan to switch attention from the real story.
Of course, we felt the heat because there are some people who will always side with these social media influencers.
But, we didn’t flinch an inch because we knew that our story was solid and we dared Madam Boss’s husband, or anyone who felt offended, to take us to court.
We are used to being rubbished, in many circles, and we expect that because we publish news which many people would rather keep shielded away from the public.
We owe it to our readers to tell them those stories, which many would like to hide, because we believe they deserve to know the private lives of our celebrities.
Fame comes with a certain price and we are not here to be public relations agents of these celebrities.
We won’t get everything right, all the time, and when we err, we are quick to apologise.
But, we are always thorough, and very fair, and as long as we know that it’s true, we will run it.
