A 19-YEAR-OLD man told a magistrate that he never had time to ask his underage girlfriend about her academic life because he was too busy having sex.
Thabo Sibanda of Bulawayoas Emganwini suburb appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Lungile Ncube charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor.
He pleaded guilty and was ordered to undergo community service assessment to vet if he can be given a non-custodial sentence.
Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza said Sibanda was in a relationship with a minor, whose name has been withheld for ethical reasons, since 2016.
a?The accused person proposed love to the complainant sometime in November 2016. Their sexual relationship was exposed when the complainant spent the night with the accused person on Christmas Eve and returned home the following day.
She was interrogated by her mother and confessed to have been having sex with her boyfriend,a? said Mageza.
A medical report was produced in court as evidence that the minor had been sexually abused.
When asked about his girlfriendas academic life, Sibanda left the court in stitches when he confessed that he never had time to ask his young lover about her schoolwork because he was allegedly too engrossed in sex.
a?So this child is your girlfriend, but you are blank about her school life. What else do you know about her besides her nakedness? So when you are with her, you only have time for sex only?a? asked the magistrate.
Sibanda responded:
a?Your Worship, I honestly have no idea of what Form or Grade sheas doing. We never had time to talk about her school things. We made the most of the time we had by having sex. We only talked about our future,a? he said. .
