CONTEMPORARY musician Jah Prayzah has quashed rumours that he was arrested for allegedly possessing and failing to surrender his army fatigues to the police.
The report went viral on social networking site Facebook over the weekend stating that the Tsviriyo hit-maker had been arrested after failing to comply with police orders to surrender all the army regalia in his wardrobe.
“I read the post while I was sleeping at home on Saturday and I was really surprised that people would spread such lies about me,” said Jah Prayzah.
Born Mukudzei Mukombe, Jah Prayzah, who does not hide his admiration of the army said he had since sought permission from the Zimbabwe National Army to wear the regalia.
“I wanted to join the army, but something happened and could not enlist. My admiration of the uniform inspired me to include it as part of my stage attire.
“I don’t wear Zimbabwean (army) colours, actually, I buy the regalia in South Africa and Germany and take it to KGIV for approval so I don’t have a problem with the army,” he said.
Jah Prayzah, however, refused to say the number of army paraphernalia he has, but reports suggest that he has more than 20 military clothing apparels in different shades that he specifically wears at live shows.
Part of the post that went viral on Facebook about the singer’s arrest read: “….Yesterday the CID Law and Order Section at Harare Central summoned Jah Prayzah where he was ordered to surrender every camouflage item in his wardrobe @ 1400 hrs today.(Saturday).”
