Wedding called off after groom and father arrested for drunk driving

A wedding scheduled to take place in Newcastle in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Midlands on Sunday has been called off after the groom and his father were arrested by the Road Traffic Inspectorate for drunk driving on Saturday night.

They were amongst 45 motorists arrested during overnight roadblocks as part of operation Nenzani LaEzweni which is targeting drunk motorists.

Since the launch of the Easter safety campaign last week, traffic authorities in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested over 180 motorists for drunk driving.

On Friday, 51 drivers were arrested during a single operation in Port Shepstone on the south coast.
