adminLONDON. – Arsene Wenger has explained his decision not to sign an outfield player for Arsenal in the transfer window. Petr Cech was the only incoming for the Gunners during the transfer window despite fans clamouring for a major signing.
The likes of Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani were among the names linked with a move to the Emirates but a deal failed to materialise. But Wenger has defended his record in the transfer window and claimed the options available in the market were not “convincing”.
Wenger has also told Arsenal fans to get their head out of the clouds dreaming about “strikers from heaven” and instead back his players to get the goals needed to kick-start their season.
He said: “I have nothing more to say. “I have made over 300 transfers and every time it’s a decision to make. Do you buy the player because he strengthens your squad or not?’’ – AFP.
