PRINCE Edward School coach Tapuwa Mungunyana says his team has intensified their preparations for the Basketball Tour of Vancouver, Canada, early next year. The team, which will be captained by Simba Siyawamwaya, is scheduled to take part in the nine-day International basketball matches at Bodwell High School in Vancouver.

“Our matches at Bodwell will be played from January 10 to 19 and we are looking forward to our tour. We have not received our fixtures yet but we have our invites and we have applied for visas. We have started training and we will continue doing so for our players to be fit and ready for the tour. In January we started with new players who found it hard to pull through.

“Winning these local tournaments is a great motivation for the Canada tour, we have one of the best shooters in the country, Charles Wilson, and also the best defensive and offensive payer in Noah Penduka,” said Mungunyana. Prince Edward recorded four wins out of eight in the local Basketball School league fixtures this season.

St George’s College registered a clean sweep over their bitter rivals St John’s College before suffering a 34-41 defeat at the hands of Perterhouse in a 51-54 defeat.

The Saints defeated St John 54-51 in a competitive encounter.
