WE’RE SORRY, SAYS NYAHWA

CAPTAINING Dynamos has always been a huge task, more so when the Harare giants are not performing well.

DeMbare head into today’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League fixture against Herentals at Rufaro on the back of a five-game winless run.

They are also coming straight from a painful defeat against city rivals CAPS United.

And skipper Shadreck Nyahwa acknowledges his troops have let their fans and stakeholders down but he has one big promise.

“We want to make it up by winning against Herentals,” Nyahwa said.

The defensive midfielder led his troops in training at Glamis Arena yesterday.

Dynamos have an almost full squad ahead of the tricky match against The Students.

The likes of Stanley Billiat, Frank Agmeyang, Hastings Chapusha and Clive Mandivei, who has not been active in recent weeks, showed hunger.

The players know they are letting their fans down.

They also know that a win against Herentals today will go a long way in soothing that pain.

“The defeat against CAPS United is now water under the bridge.

“We have to move on,” Nyahwa said.

Their last win was against Simba Bhora at Wadzanai on April 5.

Since then, they have managed three draws and two losses.

“We have been discussing as players and we have been talking about our performances.

“We need to pull up our socks and perform the Dynamos way.

“We have to start picking up maximum points and move up the log table.

“As the captain I have to also lead the boys and motivate them which is what has been happening. I am aware we have let the stakeholders down but my plea is for the fans to keep believing in us.

“They should pack Rufaro and make life difficult for Herentals,” added Nyahwa.

This is a must-win game for Dynamos coach, Genesis “Kaka” Mangombe, who has come under fire.

He has the next three games against Herentals, Triangle United and Hardrock to win back the faith of the club’s executive.

However, Nyahwa believes the players have to also shoulder part of the blame.

“We have to fight for the badge,” said Nyahwa.

Interestingly, Dynamos have one league win against Herentals in their last eight meetings.
