The ZRP Bulawayo Province’s Townshend and Butcher-sponsored football league enters Week 22 this afternoon with the spotlight on the clash between second and third placed Western Commonage and Queens Park at Ndola grounds.
Queens Park were held 1-1 by Donnington last week and will be hoping for a change in fortunes to keep up with runaway leaders Nkulumane, who mauled Tshabalala 4-1.
Western Commonage were inactive last week after their duel with struggling Njube was postponed.
Leaders Nkulumane have a seemingly easier assignment when they take on Pumula while bottom club PHQ, who have a paltry 11 points from 21 games, play host to fellow strugglers Njube.
PHQ have won just two games, scoring 29 goals and conceding a massive 59 at an average of 2,03 goals per game.
PHQ coach Raymond Mutsamwa needs to turn around the fortunes of the team whose number one fan is the officer commanding Bulawayo Province senior assistant commissioner Stephen Mutamba.
The football matches are part of the many sporting activities undertaken by members of the police every Wednesday to keep the officers physically and mentally fit as they execute their duties.
Some of today’s activities include chess, netball and volleyball.
Today’s fixtures:
Donnington v Byo Central, Entumbane v CID, Magwegwe v Hillside, Mzilikazi v Luveve, Pumula v Nkulumane, PHQ v Njube, West Comm v Queens Park, Tshabalala v Sauerstown
