Craig Ervine (Zimbabwe Captain)
“I am ecstatic. Lots of credit to the boys for fighting hard. Winning the toss was the first piece of the puzzle. The first hour was not good. But the bowlers fought back. Ben’s innings was amazing. Very impressed. The wicket offered something throughout. Guys have learnt a fair bit over the last 6-7 months with the Test cricket that we have played. Obviously, change in venue, the boys did well. The bowlers were threatening and did well. It is very special. Earlier in the year, we won at Sylhet and we waited 14 years for that.”
Ben Curran (Player of the Match)
Delighted with personal performance. Thrilled with a win. Obviously coming back from injury that I had in England. Coming into a Test was a little under-cooked.
I thank the batting coach. You got to make those changes if you want to succeed. Luckily it worked as well.
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain)
First of all, they played good cricket. The ball was seaming around. We didn’t play good cricket. I wanted to bat first. The first hour we played well. But we collapsed after that. I think when we gave away back to back wickets, we didn’t recover in the end.
The less experience of playing Test cricket also didn’t help. In Test cricket, day 1 is very important. It gives you momentum going forward. He is good and ready for the Test format. – Cricbuzz
