HELLO there people, I hope you are well this week. Well, need I say it is Valentine’s Day this weekend, yepee! For those who forgot, or do not care. . .here is your chance to make a plan. . .get with the programme people. . .lol.
In case you haven’t been picking up on the hints your girlfriend has been emailing you, or sweetly whispering into your ear, here is the message loud and clear: Valentine’s Day is here! But what you do depends on how long you have been seeing one another and what level of romance you want to bring to this loving day. So if you are out of Valentine’s Day ideas – or can’t even think of one! – I have you covered. Here is what to do this Valentine’s Day to ensure it is not only awesome, but will likely, make you lucky, too kikiki. . .
1. Sending flowers to her office will really flatter her. When she receives them, not only will her co-workers ohh-and-ahh, making her feel special and loved, but we bet she will surprise you with something sexy in return.
2. If you have money, take her out to dinner in a hotel or restaurant. Make sure you order food you and her do not usually eat. Try something different that you can chat about or laugh about during the dinner. Order some champagne or nice wine and be extra nice to her. Make sure she has a box of chocolate and flowers when she arrives. If you have another gift for her, go ahead.
3. If money is not there. . .cook dinner for her at home. . .if you cannot cook, buy takeaway food. Get flowers from the garden or the neighbour’s garden. Chocolates are cheap in town so you need to get some. Serve her meal, pour her juice or wine or whatever you can afford. Play music even if it is from your cellphone kikiki. After dinner clear the plates and wash them for her.
4. Even in the happiest, healthiest of relationships, outside stresses – like job frustration – can put a damper on things. When it comes to celebrating, your girl might want to do something low-key, as opposed to something that’ll require even more work than what she’s balancing in the office. Though 57 percent of men think the dudes are supposed to plan Valentine’s Day, 68 percent of women say the couple should come up with something together.
5. Be proactive and give your girl three options, like, ‘pizza, wine and a massage’ ‘Reservations at that place you have been wanting to go’ or ‘a favourite movie and takeout, plus a gift from me’ – and see what she wants. She will appreciate you thought ahead, but that you are not surprising her with something over the top. Remember, it is not about racking up the most on your credit card – sometimes a cheap Valentine’s Day gift can be good! – it is about showing her you remembered and care.
6. Weddings are expensive – and if you just got married last year, you are likely still working on getting your savings back to where they were pre-nuptials. The weekend of Valentine’s Day, while she is out running errands, bring out those wedding photos, pick up a cake similar to the one you had at your reception, buy the same flowers that were in her bouquet and grab a nice bottle of champagne, and write a loving card about your first Valentine’s Day as a married couple. She will love the sweet attention to detail, and might even get some of that honeymoon sex going, too. There are also a number of cheap Valentine’s Day gifts for her options to choose from if you are feeling a little uninspired.
7. If you cannot be with her, leave her with a gift to spoil herself. Book for her to have a massage or her make-up done or her nails and hair to be done. You can buy her sets of perfumes or lotions that smell wonderful. You can get her a clothing gift voucher so that she can go and buy that outfit she has been worrying you about.
8. Make a video for her. Yes, people are making videos and taking selfies for all sorts of things these days, why not do something nice for your Valentine. Whether it is mom, sister, girlfriend, wife, friend etc., say something important using your phone and send it to her first thing on Valentine’s morning. For husbands, make a video for your wife with the kids, or if the kids are too small, do a video thanking your wife for giving you the most wonderful children in the world etc.
9. If you are a group of singles, book a table at a common restaurant or coffee shop in town. Make sure it is decorated with candles and rose petals etc., then the whole group go together as one and enjoy having fun, making jokes, dancing etc. Valentine’s is not just about romantic love. It is about showing love to those you care about.
10. Karaoke evening is perfect for those people who are crazy music people. Book a house somewhere or a restaurant somewhere as a few couples and go and enjoy yourselves making fools of yourselves singing like crazy. And then end of the evening it will feel like a new year. Lol.
11. If you both love food or takeaways, do a food journey. Go to as many eat out places as you can together like teens do. For instance dress up and have breakfast together at one place. Then separate and dress up again and have lunch at another place. The separate and dress up again for dinner. There is no woman in the world who will not love being spoilt this way. But of course, it is going to cost a few dollars kikiki.
12. Some women don’t particularly care for February 14, instead, they would rather have you show how much you love them every day, not just in the middle of February. If your lady has casually mentioned that she doesn’t need to celebrate V-Day, take her word for it, but suggest you still do something fun since it is a long weekend. Try something neither of you have ever done before – like an impromptu road trip to Mozambique then back again the same day. Whatever it might be, you don’t have to use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to do something exciting. For those who have transport or can get transport, take a slow drive up one of our Mutare’s amazing mountains (Vumba, Penhalonga, Nyanga etc.) and enjoy the scenery. Then stop somewhere and have a meal or a slice of cake and tea or take with you a picnic basket and sit in the gardens up there somewhere and enjoy each other’s company in a beautiful serene environment.
13. Regardless of how long you have been together, sometimes, things just aren’t easy in a relationship. Even when you love the other person dearly, you won’t always see eye-to-eye on everything. If you are going through a tough time with your girl, take the time to write a long, kind and open letter to her. Suggest that you go to one of your favourite restaurants, followed by a nice wine bar and give her what you wrote. It may help to break away some of the things keeping you apart, and more importantly, open up the dialogue to get your relationship or marriage back on track.
That is it from me this week folks. . .until next week, God Bless!
