Munyaradzi Musiiwa in GWERU
WHAWHA became the first team to book their ticket into the Premier league after clamping Gweru City 1-0 in a ZIFA Central Region Soccer League tie at Wilson Fields in Gweru on Sunday.
Luke Petros-Jukulile’s men leaped into the top-flight league after amassing 55 points from 25 games.
Rivals MSU shot themselves in the foot when they succumbed to a 0-2 defeat at the hands of FC Platinum Under-19 side at Mandava.
Whawha chairperson Musa Ntonga said her side had been rewarded for patience, perseverance and teamwork.
“I would want to thank the Gweru community for rallying behind us.
“This gave us the patience and the perseverance to overcome all the obstacles which include financial challenges especially if you consider the economic environment.
“I also want to extend my gratitude to the players, technical team led by Luke Petros-Jukulile and the executive for the teamwork which has given us this outcome,” she said.
