When sunrise marked a new beginning

capacity on April 22 as Christians gathered for a life transforming all-night prayer session hosted by Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church, reminisces VICTORIA RUZVIDZO.
NEVER in this country have so many people, more than 60 000, gathered at once for a Christian event, an all-night prayer at that.
People from all walks of life, from all corners of this country and beyond congregated to worship God, an indication of the hunger and thirst for God that is fast developing in this country.
Not even a heavy downpour just before the start of the service could deter the resolute Christians, who, in the weeks before had had prophecies that the Lord Almighty would certainly be at work on the night.
People were soaked in water and had their clothes drenched but this only helped to whet their appetite for the word of God and the prophecies.
Many have since testified that their lives have been changed in a very significant way with those that were sick, having received healing while many other needs, be they financial, physical and spiritual were met as God showed Himself faithful yet again.
The event was a fulfillment of an instruction by UFI spiritual father Prophet Victor Boateng of Ghana who said UFI needed to hold it to pray for political, economic and social healing of the nation.
On the day, people started streaming to the venue as early as 10am.
The commuter omnibuses and food vendors would be the first to attest that business was very high as many sought to have their meals within the vicinity of the National Sports Stadium to guarantee themselves a seat.
It was all worth the while as the move of the Holy Spirit swept across the National Sports Stadium leaving the multitudes swimming in the presence of the Almighty.
Prophet Makandiwa, true to form, allowed God to use him in unimaginable proportions. He preached for about four hours non-stop during which he emphasised the need for Zimbabweans to become more prayerful.
He prophesied that this country’s economy was destined for greater heights, stressing that growth would be anchored more on the mining sector as opposed to agriculture.
He said Zimbabwe was a blessed country which could achieve much more as the nation seeks the Lord more.
“If my people, who are called by name will, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will heal their land,” says the bible in 2 Chronicles 7:14.
On the night, Prophet Makandiwa read from Exodus 12: 113, which speaks about the Passover.
He said the people gathered would begin a new journey in their lives as the night signified the beginning of a new year. Jehovah Jireh (God the Provider) would become manifest in their lives in an amazing way.
“The word of God has said tell these people that today is the beginning of the year for them,” he said, to much applause from the excited audience that had earlier been doing the Mexican Wave in anticipation of the move of God that night.
Zimbabwe had been reborn, said the man of God. Prophet Makandiwa said those that attended the all-night prayer would become the Moses of their families, who would bring the good message of deliverance and hope to their family members. Doors that the enemies had closed were now opened while the favour of God would rest upon the people.
Prophet Makandiwa prayed for the barren, the sick and delivered many from the different bondages that constrained their progress in life. His elder brother in Christ, Prophet Uebert Angel was in attendance and the two ministered deliverance to the congregation.
The service ended at about 6am but many were still crying for more. The hours had passed by without their noticing, having been overwhelmed by God’s presence.
As the thousands left the stadium, with kilometers of traffic snaking out of the venue, all were in agreement that their lives would never be the same again.
The rising of the sun marked a new beginning in their lives. The testimonies that are being shared among those that attended bear testimony of God’s love for His people and His desire to see His children achieve, in line with His purpose for their lives.
It was indeed a night to remember!
