When the puzzle pieces refuse to fit

Natalie Dudzai

AN unquestionable imagination is driving me, pushing me towards the centre.

I have made myself a detective

of nature,

and all I seek are answers to the

world’s mysteries.

Yet, as I move closer, the puzzle becomes more complex, with every riddle leading

to a proverb.

That small obsession has led to a

delusional mindset.

Perhaps my childhood dreams were merely imaginary.

As I uncover hidden secrets,

I believe we are in a state of chaos;

we are fed lies, forced to believe

what is untrue and given only

what matches their expectations.

Maybe, as an infant, I should have been told that I was chasing a fantasy.

I dreamed big, but as I woke up,

I realised my dreams have no existence.

The truth hurts, but at least I would have known the reality — and perhaps I could have changed my fate.
