Dear Tete Barbara
Last year I fell pregnant and that was the beginning of my troubles.  I do not know who got me pregnant because I had been dating three guys and I made the mistake of having unprotected sex with two of them.

The problem is that I do not love the two. I love the one who is not responsible for the pregnancy.  I cannot marry a man I do not love at the same time I cannot pin this baby on him, it is unfair. The one guy I told is excited but the other one asked me to ‘deal with the problem’, whatever it means. What should I do?

Tete Barbara Responds
When one finds oneself in a situation like this, that is when one values the statement, stick to one partner. You put yourself and your partners at risk of not just contracting sexually transmitted diseases but also of getting stuck in a paternity saga. Your unfaithful behaviour has created this disaster you are now trying to get out of. Having said that, you can correct your mistake by opening up to your partners and coming clean.

It will not be easy but it is one way of dealing with your situation.  Be prepared for reactions that could involve emotions of anger and possible break ups. You need a DNA test to determine who fathered the child, that is a fact you cannot run away from. If you really love your boyfriend who is not responsible for this pregnancy, you can tell him the truth also stating that you still love him.

There is a possibility that he, if he truly loves you, can choose to be with you and your baby. Whatever decision you make, remember that a lie is a bomb waiting to explode and that your choice today will have an impact on your child’s life.
