Sisters stab rival with kitchen knife

Tendai Gukutikwa Weekender Correspondent —
A MUTARE woman is in trouble with the law after she allegedly teamed up with her sister, visited her ex-husband’s new wife and stabbed her with a kitchen knife.

Talent Chiyambiro (23) denied the assault charges when she appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira last week.

Chiyambiro who is alleged to have committed the offence together with her sister, Nyarai Chiyambiro is being charged with assault as defined in Section 89(1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.

Nyarai is still at large. Mr Brian Goto prosecuted.

It is alleged that on December 6 at around 4pm, the pair went to Bonita Asado’s residence. Asado is the new wife to Chiyambiro’s ex-husband.

“On arrival, Talent demanded her property back. She claimed she had left it behind when she parted ways with Asado’s husband.

“A misunderstanding arose between the two resulting in Chiyambiro grabbing a kitchen knife from Asado’s kitchen and stabbed her on the arm several times,” said Mr Goto.

In her defence, Chiyambiro denied ever stabbing Asado. Rather, she said Asado was the one who had assaulted her.

“Your Worship, I am actually on my way to report the matter to the police. It is only that she reported first. She also assaulted me,” she defended herself.

She was remanded out of custody on her own cognisant. The matter was adjourned to yesterday (Thursday).
