Who owns the song Stambo?

Marondera based Jiti musician, Tatenda Kanoyangwa, accuses Baba Harare of stealing his song “Stambo”.He claims he recorded the song first and failed to market it.

The song was released two years ago and has more than one million views on YouTube.

Kanoyangwa made the claims on the sidelines of a recent ZIMURA stakeholders workshop in Marondera.

Contacted for comment, Baba Harare denied being the owner of the song.

Baba Harare said one Mabumura from Mutare approached him with the song and video concept where he added flair.

“I don’t know that Marondera boy you are talking about. Mabamura is the one who authored the song and approached me to feature on it since he wanted to boost his numbers on social media.

“I don’t know the boy and the only person I know as the song owner is Mabamura.

“It’s unfortunate that I have lost Mabamura’s contact but he is the best person to talk to.

“Let’s hope mukomana wacho haasi kuda kuti shandisa kugdzira zita,” he said.
Mabamuwa was not reachable for comment.
