Why do women keep falling prey to rapist ‘prophets’?

STORIES abound of how women have been raped after lone sessions of “prayer” with a “prophet”. However, for some lame reason or other, women continue to flock to churches and shrines where they fall for these tricksters and their tricks.

Rape is a traumatising experience and leaves scars on victims for life. Marriages and lives have been lost due to blind faith. This is my open letter to all women out there. Have you not learnt enough from predicaments of others? Are you so blind and clueless that you put yourselves in sticky situations and believe that you can be healed from your afflictions by taking off your clothes? Alarm bells should ring when a man asks you to take off your undergarments, so that they can “pray” for you to have a child or rid you of demons. In such an instance, it’s the pastor who needs to be exorcised of demons.

Things are bad out there, we are all seeking answers to life’s boggling questions and ever mounting financial obligations, but our desperation should not drive us to look for solutions through means that border on the insane.

If you say you are a Christian and believe that prophets are sent from God, does the same Bible not ask you not to believe every spirit, “but to test spirits to see whether they from God. Because many false prophets have gone into the world . . .” How then do you explain you falling hook, line and sinker for a “prophet” who says his semen would expel demons that are planted in you by your husband?

This allegedly happened when an Abundant Life Ministry Pastor, Danmore Magorimbo told a female congregant that she was “highly favoured like Mary, the mother of Jesus” and that he needed to “pray” for her to drive away spirits planted by her husband during intercourse.

Recently in Bulawayo a serial rapist, Ephias Ndlovu, 42, of Trenance lured six women into a bush claiming he had a prophetic vision about their lives.

I don’t know what goes on in the minds of these victims, but it does not seem right that you follow a man for several hours until you are told that the “Holy Spirit” wants you to remove your panties, if you don’t, you die. Pardon me, but who really believes this sort of heresy?

The infamous RMG End Time Messages leader, Robert Martin Gumbura and Madzibaba Godfrey Nzira are classic examples of how women in psychedelic fashion have been hoodwinked and raped by these deceptively evil pastors.

Gumbura who touted himself as “the burden bearer” would tell his congregants, especially women, to come to his house for counselling sessions alone, as part of his need to carry their burdens. However, true men of God do not conduct counselling sessions with married women in the absence of their husbands. Why would one consult these prophets in private places and at secluded shrines without one’s spouse, family member or friends?

How do you reconcile the fact that God hates adultery, but “the men of god” would want to defile your matrimonial bed and you are tricked into it? How do we read our Bible ladies, upside down? A prophet’s behaviour should be in harmony with the teachings of the Cross — which is salvation.

Have you ever asked yourself why these vile prophets only prophesy doom upon your lives and nothing positive, when the Bible says that prophesy should edify the church. The church, mind you, is not the building, but the people in it. As such since you are the church, what edification besides the edification of your problems are you getting from these prophets?

Fellow women since you fall for these overused and simple tricks that will supposedly heal you of all your afflictions, then believe this simple reasoning, these are blatant lies!
