BUSINESSMAN and philanthropist Mr Wicknell Chivayo has pledged to donate 20 ambulances and 200 000 litres of diesel to support Zimbabwe’s health delivery system, with the first batch of the fleet already secured.

Chivayo confirmed that 10 state-of-the-art ambulances have now been delivered, completing the first phase of his latest pledge. This follows an earlier donation of 10 ambulances distributed across the country in November last year.

Writing on his Facebook page, the businessman said the initiative was his contribution towards strengthening the country’s healthcare system in line with Government’s Vision 2030 agenda.

“This is a humbling contribution in support of the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Mnangagwa and Government’s healthcare aspirations, where quality, accessible and modern healthcare remains central to achieving an upper middle-income economy,” said Chivayo.

The ambulances will be deployed across the country’s 10 provincial hospitals, guided by the Ministry of Health and Child Care to ensure that areas with the greatest need benefit from the donation.

In addition to the vehicles, Chivayo pledged 200 000 litres of diesel, which will be distributed across provinces to support the continuous operation of the ambulances.

“This will ensure that each province receives adequate fuel to sustain operations and guarantee utilisation throughout the year,” he said.

Mr Chivayo also weighed in on broader national development issues, expressing support for policy continuity and stability as key drivers of economic growth and infrastructure development.

“As the business community, we fully appreciate that sustainable development requires continuity and stability. Development is a process, not an event, and serious nations support such processes, particularly Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, which ensures that key programmes initiated under the Second Republic are completed by 2030,” he said.

He said his donation was part of his commitment as a citizen to support national development efforts and improve service delivery in critical sectors such as health.

“This is my humble way, as a responsible and patriotic citizen, of supporting the Government, supporting our people and advancing Vision 2030 under the able leadership of His Excellency, the President,” said Chivayo.
