The woman reportedly accused the man of being poor in bed and not seeking employment.
The man, Philemon Mugwari, of Number 6388 Gwenhuri Street South View in Gweru, got angry when he was placed under “bedroom sanctions” by his wife, Ms Martha Masunda and assaulted her.
Ms Masunda who could not take the assault lightly went and filed a report to the police leading to the arrest of Mugwari.
Mugwari was yesterday arraigned before Gweru magistrate Mrs Kuda Canady facing a charge of assault.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $300.
Ms Masunda, a senior technician at the Midlands State University, left the court in stitches when she said she denied her husband his conjugal rights because he was not good in bed.
“He is not good in bed and he uses the same sex style of being forceful which is painful. It was for this reason that I decided to deny him sex and he became violent and assaulted me,” she said.
In his defence, Mugwari denied the allegations that he was not good in bed but insisted that his wife denied him his conjugal rights because he was unemployed.
The State case against Mugwari was that on 29 October this year and at about 10pm, he was sleeping with his wife, Ms Masunda, when he asked to be intimate with her.
The court heard that Ms Masunda refused accusing Mugwari of being poor in bed. She said his act was monotonous and painful. Mugwari could not take it and assaulted her and in the process twisted her left finger.
Mugwari also pulled Ms Masunda’s left upper eye lid as he battled to be intimate with her.
Ms Masunda was later rescued by her younger sister who opened the bedroom after she heard the two making noise as Ms Masunda fought to free herself from Mr Mugwari.
The matter was later reported to the police leading to Mugwari’s arrest.
Mr Justos Makwena appeared for the State.
