Wife-bashing backfired for member of the Central Intelligence Organisation who reportedly bashed his wife using an unknown object over Whatsapp messages. Kudzanai Chiganze (30) appeared before Mbare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje charged with physical abuse. He denied the charges. Mr Mambanje remanded him on $50 bail and deferred the matter to March 24 for trial. The prosecutor Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe alleged that on February 26 Chiganze got home and asked for his wife Netsai Moyo’s mobile phone.
The court heard that Chiganze started checking her Whatsapp conversations and got suspicious of a particular number. Mr Gangarahwe alleged that Chiganze then called the number and asked Moyo to answer and talk to the person he had called while he listened, but Moyo refused.
He said Chiganze was angered by Moyo’s actions and started assaulting her. Moyo managed to free herself and came back in the company of her brother who was denied access into the house by Chiganze.
