Wife disputes divorce claims

A BULAWAYO woman has disputed claims that her marriage ended in divorce.

This was after Bornwell Nyarume told the Harare Civil court that Martha Mutsabe was a bitter and delusional ex-wife who had dragged him to court.

“I was surprised to be served with summons. We divorced long back and I stay in Bulawayo. She stays here and our child is in boarding school. She drove all the way to Bulawayo and stole my property, including my girlfriend’s panties, and she’s wanted by the police,” he claimed.

But Martha maintained that Bornwell was harassing her at work and at her parents’ house.

She said the two were still married and needed a peace order to settle their marriage disputes peacefully instead of resorting to violence.

“I don’t want him to visit our child’s school with his girlfriend on visiting days. It’s affecting her mentally, and he’s lying that we separated. I was never given a token of divorce, he’s still my husband.

“The theft matter is at the Criminal Court, and he’s lying just to fix me,” she said

Magistrate Nyasha Marufu granted Martha the peace order.
