HUGE BOOST FOR HERENTALS STUDENTS

HERENTALS Group Of Colleges, splashed US$350 000 to buy 54 000 new curriculum text books which they have begun distributing to all their national branches.

They started the process yesterday in Chitungwiza.

This event was graced by Chitungwiza’s districts’ DSI, Isaac Kureva, who hailed the college leader, Innocent Benza, for taking heed of the government call to equip the students with new curriculum textbooks.

Kureva admitted that some students are struggling to excel because many schools are short of new curriculum textbooks.

He said this giant stride, which Herentals has taken, will enable the students to align with the new government law which restricts the child from progressing to Grade Three without the ability to read and write.

“Without textbooks, where do you think the students will get the literature?

“We have some learners with privileged backgrounds who are using other forms of technology, but we cannot rule out the significance of a textbook to a student.

“Our vision is to see each child having his or her own book on the table and it will keep the child more occupied,” said Kureva.

A director for Herentals Group Of Colleges, Fainos Madhumbu, said:

“We have realised that we need to equip our teachers and students for them to have a flexible environment that comes with the privilege of each child having his or her textbook.”
